A Note from Tim

This is an exciting time of year for short-term professional teams and exchange fellows! Nine teams are underway for the fall. We are grateful for two exchange fellowships coming together for this fall as well, but we still need two more for 2024.

Vietnam has been a significant country for REI sending short-term professional teams, and we have seen significant development in Vietnam during that time. REI has provided significant training and development as a part of that.

Building on the success of our experience in Vietnam, REI is pleased to initiate new works for short-term professional teams to other parts of the world. Two countries in Central Asia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, are part of that this year. I helped lead our first Business Team into Kazakhstan this October, where we provided business training at the Kazakh-American Free University (KAFU) in Oskemen, Kazakhstan and meeting with ENACTUS students in Almaty.

Dr. Austin Raunikar began breaking ground in Uzbekistan by going to the cities of Samarkand and Tashkent to find out what the medical needs are there. And then REI will look at how we can meet those needs by sending our professional volunteers to help with development in this important sector. As Dr. Raunikar has met with key people in hospitals and clinics, this important visit laying the groundwork for future REI medical teams to begin going to Uzbekistan.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who give of their time and resources to help us build people to build nations!

Short-Term Professional Teams

REI sends more than 15 short-term professional teams (primarily business and medical) every year with the goal to have teams going to each of our countries.

Exchange Fellows

REI partners with the U.S. State Department to provide J-1 visas and bring a minimum of five Exchange Fellows every year to the U.S. from their home countries for professional training and cultural exchange.
